Postpartum Care Only

First Six Weeks Postpartum Care

The first six weeks with your baby can be exciting but also challenging. It’s normal to feel a mix of joy, exhaustion, and worry. Our midwives are here to support you and your baby during this time, providing care for both of you until six weeks after birth.
Within 48 hours of leaving the hospital, our midwives will visit you—at home or in hospital—and continue to see you during the first six weeks, with several visits in the first week. We check your baby’s growth and health, support breastfeeding, and monitor your physical and emotional recovery.
After six weeks, care transitions to your family doctor, but we’re always happy to see you again for your next pregnancy.
If your pregnancy and birth were managed by an obstetrician or family doctor, you can still call our clinic as soon as you give birth to arrange postpartum care.
Postpartum Birth Control

At Mama Midwifery, we provide birth control counseling after birth to help you plan your family and protect your health. Options include birth control pills, injections, and IUD insertions. For permanent options, we can refer you or your partner for tubal ligation or vasectomy.
Using birth control after birth helps prevent unintended or closely spaced pregnancies, which can be riskier for both mother and baby in the first year postpartum. While breastfeeding may reduce the chance of pregnancy, it’s not a reliable form of birth control.
