Prenatal Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a gentle, natural therapy that uses fine needles to stimulate and balance the body. It can help with relaxation, pain relief, and overall well-being during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. Both Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western acupuncture techniques are used to support comfort, healing, and healthy birth outcomes.

At Surrey Mama Midwifery, Mojgan Nadafi, Registered Midwife, offers acupuncture to:

Support pregnancy wellness (reduce nausea, fatigue, anxiety, constipation, back or pelvic pain).

Prepare your body for birth (cervical ripening, labor preparation, breech and posterior presentation support).

Provide pain relief and encourage labor progress during birth

Aid postpartum recovery (support lactation, reduce fatigue, mastitis, hemorrhoids, and mood changes).

Acupuncture can help increase the chances of a smooth, uncomplicated vaginal birth and reduce the need for medical interventions, including C-sections.

Our acupuncture clinic is led by Dr. Sukhi Uppal, a Bastyr University graduate with over 15 years of experience. Sukhi specializes in supporting pregnant and postpartum women, as well as treating pain, anxiety, and other concerns.

Prenatal Physiotherapy

Pregnancy and childbirth bring many changes to your body, which can cause back pain, pelvic discomfort, and weakened pelvic floor muscles. Visiting a physiotherapist during and after pregnancy can help prevent and treat these issues, while supporting your recovery.

During Pregnancy:

Physiotherapists help prepare your body for pregnancy by improving alignment, core stability, and posture to reduce back and pelvic pain caused by weight changes and joint stress.

Postpartum Recovery:

Pregnancy and birth can weaken the pelvic floor, leading to incontinence, pain, or pelvic organ prolapse. Physiotherapists can assess your pelvic health and create a rehabilitation plan to restore strength and function.
